One hundred years after the beginning of the Latrobe Valley coal industry, workers and communities in Gippsland are preparing for a whole new energy system powered by renewables.
This July 6th, you’re invited to the Naarm premiere of Power On, a 25-minute short film by Ellen Burbidge and produced by Friends of the Earth, telling the story of Gippsland’s incredible energy transformation.
Through a series of inspiring and heartfelt interviews with leaders from across the Gippsland region, you will learn how communities are seizing the opportunities in renewable energy right now to build a better future.
After an exciting premier of Power On at the Festival of Big Ideas in Gippsland, the film will launch in Naarm (Melbourne) at Black Spark Cultural Centre, Northcote.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and QandA with the filmmaker and key leaders featured in the documentary:
- Ellen Burbidge, Documentary filmmaker
- Wendy Farmer, Friends of the Earth Gippsland Organiser and President of Voices of the Valley
- Pat Simons, Yes2Renewables Coordinator
